Top Five... Favorite Anime TV Theme Songs
Requested by [info]shadadukal. I'm only including anime where I've actually watched more than one episode. Otherwise, I'd have even more Yoko Kanno songs on here. ;)

Includes links to samples. )

Top Five... Favorite TV Theme Songs
Requested by [info]starlightmoonla. This was hard to narrow down to five. While there are other TV theme songs I really do like, I decided to go with themes that I pretty much never wanted to skip through. These also always got me excited to watch the show. I almost included anime theme songs, but then I'd never be able to narrow this list down to five. This is a list of live action TV themes, but if anyone wants to know the anime list, let me know. :)

I wish I were in Vegas.
That's not necessarily to be with [info]jagwriter78 and her sis, although that does sound fun. Where I really want is to be HERE.

Rob P Rocks!!
Somewhat randomly, while chatting with [info]humansrsuperior, I stumbled upon this link on YouTube:

Oh. My. God. I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time.

And then I watched this one:

Watch that, and you'll never think about cellos, Aerosmith, and Green Day the same way ever again. LMAO!!!!

Power chords hurt!
So ever since I watched [info]humansrsuperior's Doctor Who vid, "Touched" by VAST, I've had the itching to try to play that opening guitar riff. I just found the tab online, and it's all power chords. My hands are way too small to play that kind of stuff. Power chords hurt!!!

Spreading some Doctor Who love, one bit at a time
I just came back from eating sushi with some coworkers. Cheap, big portions, and tasty stuff. =D

Anyway, driving my coworkers home, I had one of my mix CDs playing in my car. "Doomsday" came on, and they liked it! I also had that Green Day mash-up "Dr. Who on Holiday" on the same CD, and they liked that too. *bounce*

Now if only I could get them to watch the DVDs, then I'd be even more happy. XD

Oh yeah, and I was too lazy to turn on the wireless router at home, but apparently someone in the neighborhood left their wi-fi unsecured, so I'm stealing Internet now. It's their fault, whoever they are, but I'm not downloading anything, so at least I'm not using too much bandwidth. It's also the first time I've been able to do that at home since I got the laptop. 8-)

Picked up my violin today.
I took out my violin today, which I tend to do every now and then just because I enjoy playing. I usually just noodle around. For me, that means I might play random strings of notes or random bits of music that I know more by muscle memory than anything else. Sometimes I'll grab some old sheet music and actually try to play something real, but I didn't do that today.

I was noodling around as I normally do, and I've noticed that one of the pieces that pops into my noodling repertoire these days is "Doomsday" from Doctor Who. =D

Doctor Who - Theme from "Doomsday" - updated
Doctor Who-Theme from Doomsday.mp3

I made this mp3 out of the midi file I made yesterday. With an mp3, what comes out of my computer comes out pretty much the same everywhere. Doesn't happen that way with midis, seeing as how different computers/cell phones/what have you output the tracks differently.

Special thanks to [info]irreparable from [info]who_daily for the advice on using box.net to host the file.

New download link available here.

Doctor Who - Theme from "Doomsday"
Ever since I heard that haunting melody that played at the end of Doomsday, I've been obsessed with it. Composer Murray Gold is at his finest here. I'd been searching for a clean copy of the theme, but I had to settle for an mp3 that had been made straight from the episode. As soon as the official soundtrack becomes available, I'm definitely getting it. I just have to have that piece of music. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one either.

So until the official version comes out, I've gone a bit mad by trying to transcribe and make a midi out of it. It's far from perfect - a few notes might be off here and there. Anyway, I think the overall theme comes across okay.
