Picked up my violin today.
I took out my violin today, which I tend to do every now and then just because I enjoy playing. I usually just noodle around. For me, that means I might play random strings of notes or random bits of music that I know more by muscle memory than anything else. Sometimes I'll grab some old sheet music and actually try to play something real, but I didn't do that today.

I was noodling around as I normally do, and I've noticed that one of the pieces that pops into my noodling repertoire these days is "Doomsday" from Doctor Who. =D

Doctor Who - Theme from "Doomsday" - updated
Doctor Who-Theme from Doomsday.mp3

I made this mp3 out of the midi file I made yesterday. With an mp3, what comes out of my computer comes out pretty much the same everywhere. Doesn't happen that way with midis, seeing as how different computers/cell phones/what have you output the tracks differently.

Special thanks to [info]irreparable from [info]who_daily for the advice on using box.net to host the file.

Doctor Who - Theme from "Doomsday"
Ever since I heard that haunting melody that played at the end of Doomsday, I've been obsessed with it. Composer Murray Gold is at his finest here. I'd been searching for a clean copy of the theme, but I had to settle for an mp3 that had been made straight from the episode. As soon as the official soundtrack becomes available, I'm definitely getting it. I just have to have that piece of music. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one either.

So until the official version comes out, I've gone a bit mad by trying to transcribe and make a midi out of it. It's far from perfect - a few notes might be off here and there. Anyway, I think the overall theme comes across okay.
